The Big Questions

  1. When is coconut peak season?
    A. Coconuts grow year-round on a 30–45 day cycle, but the peak is July–August. Prices usually drop slightly then rise again after August.
  2. Why haven’t prices dropped this July–August?
    A. Despite peak harvest, coconut oil’s high value has pushed up raw coconut prices by 60–70 Rupees (about $0.23/kg) due to market manipulation.
  3. Will prices fall in early 2026?
    A. Normally yes, but climate and geopolitical issues have disrupted trends. No signs yet of a price drop.
  4. Why is supply still tight?
    A. Strong demand from China and priority for coconut oil production mean global demand exceeds supply.
  5. Why can’t we get prices 6–12 months ahead?
    A. Coconuts spoil quickly. Factories buy fresh coconuts just before production and can only estimate prices about 13 weeks ahead.
  6. Why do some factories still offer long contracts?
    A. Smaller factories may offer based on old stock prices, but often cancel if costs rise, common in 2025.
  7. How does Brusco protect supply?
    A. We work with Sri Lanka’s largest producer, plus a second supplier for backup. We secure monthly stock, ship regularly, store in UK & Ireland warehouses, and closely monitor pricing, shipping, and market trends.
